A Growing Demand in Middle-Priced Homes

Middle-priced homes are the buzz among builders. Amid a widening housing market slowdown, developers are starting to target the one area where demand remains strong.

Private developers are starting to shift gears from selling the lofty dreams and lavish lifestyles of expensive condominiums to the more mundane — but still lucrative, some say — task of delivering middle-income housing.

The new race to the middle is nationwide, and it comes largely because home prices have risen far faster than wages in recent years, creating large numbers of professionals and middle-income earners who are priced out. Some developers say the volume of demand will make up for somewhat lower profits.

Realty TV Coming This Fall

“American Real Estate – What’s Next??” is coming to the airwaves in Las Vegas on FOX 5, KVVU this fall.

The two-part segment, starting Sept. 3, will be a news-formatted program addressing the shift in the real estate market locally and nationally. Topics for discussion include what has happened in the real estate market, where the market stands today and what’s next.

The first segment welcomes top industry professionals, including Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors (GLVAR) President Linda Reinberger, real estate prognosticator Richard Lee and real estate developer Paul Murad.

In the second segment, local and national developers, builders, and leading finance and mortgage bankers discuss residential and commercial real estate, and there will be a follow-up response to the first program.

In addition to Las Vegas, other episodes of “American Real Estate — What’s Next??” will tape in Miami and Orlando this year.

Watson Realty Corp. Earns Two MarCom Awards

William A. Watson, Jr., chairman of the board, Watson Realty Corp. Realtors, was recently presented two MarCom Gold Awards by William G. Schmidt of William G. Schmidt Advertising. The honors were earned for Watson’s “Choose Watson. Get More!” TV/Single Spot and the “Choose Watson. Get More!” advertising campaign. The presentation took place at Watson’s corporate offices July 19.

The Mission of the MarCom Creative Awards is to honor excellence and recognize the creativity and hard work of marketing and communication professionals through an international competition. Winning a MarCom Creative Award gives recognition to the creative talent, firms, departments and/or clients that collaborate on outstanding marketing and communications projects.
